There are always going to be times when, irrespective of how carefully a company plans out a project, there simply isn't enough appliances on hand to handle the needs of the project without running out of time. The choices at that point are clear - rent the machines you want or go forward and make the purchase.
It is hard to make these sorts of choices, thanks to a few factors that you will have to consider.
It's common knowledge that rental corporations make big profits on the hardware they hire out. Most companies will lease on a regular or scheduled basis, which is good for them but can be bad for you. Dependent on what area you're employed in, the price can be very high or exactly right.
Dependent on what sort of appliances you want, the price to lease will change. Costs may appear a bit ghastly initially, although if you've got a profitable company and are working on a large project, you will have no issues meeting the cost.
When you need more equipment and do not need to lease, you should buy your equipment. Purchasing is the way to go if you're counting on using the kit more. If you're employed on enormous projects on a typical basis, you may want to look into buying the appliances you want instead of renting .
Purchasing will save your cash in the long term, providing you're going to be using the kit again. If you need the hardware for 1 or 2 projects, you may just need to lease. Sure you won't own the equipment, though you certainly don't desire to get something you will not be using.
One of the good things about renting is the incontrovertible fact that company you rent from is responsible for fixing anything that breaks. Your company won't be answerable for repairs, as you do not own the gear. If something breaks or goes wrong, simply call the company and they will come out there and sort the problem, as the price for mend is included in the rental contract.
If you decide to go forward and buy the apparatus, then your company will be responsible for the fixing of the equipment. As you almost certainly know with owning other equipment, you'll need to do regular maintenance and service on the equipment.
